Attention MasterSingers

A Message from Laureen:

My dearest ones,
This week the American Choral Directors Association, along with The National Association of Teachers of Singing and several other groups and medical professionals presented a webinar concerning the safety of singing in groups during this insanity. Here is the link: NATS Panel of Experts Lays Out Sobering Future for Singers: "No Vaccine, No Safe Public Singing"

It is a very long and very sobering webinar.  The long and short of it is that singing in public, regardless of the size of the group is not safe. The threat of spreading the virus is astronomical because we basically spit all over each other when we sing, not to mention all the hugging and sharing of stuff we do. Added to that is the liability factor for our singers and audience members. what if one of us gets it then spreads it to other singers or audience members? This bastard virus is most contagious BEFORE symptoms present, according to the medical folks on this webinar. This is terrifying. Without a vaccine, we cannot meet safely.

It is for these reasons that the board and I have decided to wait until next season to present the Sondheim and Beatles concerts. They will be in the same time frame as this season, April for Sondheim, June for Beatles.  The fundraiser cabaret is now canceled, as we also had to consider the vendors' schedules.  You will receive another separate email with that information.

I am hoping- praying- that things change significantly here in Omaha and we are able to proceed with our 2020-2021 season. We will keep you informed as we have information to share.

My heart is shattered. Many tears have been shed about this situation by many people. Our love for you and the gift we have in our music is too precious to take any chances.

There are lots of loose ends to tie up, including financial ones, and you will receive more emails as we go, so sit tight until we can get it all sorted out. Above all else, STAY SAFE!! You are my very breath, my life, my heart and soul and I simply cannot fathom losing any of you.
