Join the MasterSingers!

Do you love to sing & have passion for making music!?
The MasterSingers are looking for you!

Our final auditions of the 2021/2022 season have concluded but we'd love to see you at auditions for next season! Auditions for our winter concert, Jazz to the World 12 will be held in September. Date & details will be coming soon. In the meantime, email mastersingersomaha@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Our low stress auditions are designed for singers of all skill levels & no professional musical experience is necessary to join our ensemble.
Interested singers will join us at our first rehearsal for our next scheduled concert and audition with our director during break. This is a great way to meet our group & experience our rehearsal style first hand!

Please prepare a short selection (16 to 32 measures) of any song in any style to audition with. Sheet music is welcome & an accompanist will be provided, karaoke style & a cappella auditions are welcome as well.

We do not limit our number of singers so all auditions are welcome. New singers will be invited to join the MasterSingers family & may participate in all upcoming performances including all regular season performances, partnership performances, fundraisers, & any special events. Singers only audition once and after becoming a MasterSinger you may perform in any or all concerts each season based on your schedule & availability.

Auditions & all rehearsals are held at Saint Paul United Methodist Church located in the heart of the Benson neighborhood. Free parking in available in the church lot on the north side of the building, off of Maple Street. Free street parking is also available on the side streets surrounding the building. Signs & singers will be posted the day of your audition to help you find your way.

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Singers will be required to wear a mask throughout their audition, during all rehearsals & anytime they are in the building. Vaccination is not required but is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED & RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED. Singers must disclose their vaccination status to the board president or artistic director, this information will not be made public to the group. Singers must complete a participation waiver at their first rehearsal. Temperature checks will be conducted upon arrival at all rehearsals.

These protocols may change at any time throughout the season based on CDC recommendations. Safety protocols for the performance will be announced later in the rehearsal process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an age requirement?
We are an adult choir, all singers need to be age 18 or older. If you are younger & love to sing we can point you toward some youth ensembles in the area.

What's the cost?
Singers are asked to contribute dues toward our rehearsal costs, a fee of $45 per concert or $115 for a full season is requested. Singers may opt to print their music at home or purchase a packet of pre-printed music for $10.00 per concert. Additional expenses may include concert attire apparel.

If these costs present a hardship please, audition anyway. We turn no one away because of financial situation. Scholarship funds are available for all singers.

What kind of music do you sing?
We love jazz, pop, rock, Broadway .. you name it! Past performances have included everything from Cole Porter to Queen so we mean it when we say we love fun music. Most of our performances are done a cappella (without instrumental accompaniment) so it can be a bit challenging but the effect is amazing! Check out our sound here!

What's the time commitment?
Rehearsals are held on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:10 p.m. Occasional Thursday rehearsals are held as well for sectionals & concert prep. but these are scheduled in advance. Have a conflict? Just let us know, we can probably work with it.

Additionally, we do expect singers to review music & practice outside of rehearsal. Most of what we sing is a cappella & it's not easy but it is fun. Most singers put in 2 to 4 hours of outside practice each week.
Where are rehearsals held?
Rehearsals are held at Saint Paul United Methodist Church located at 5410 Corby Street in Omaha's beautiful Benson neighborhood. Parking is available in the church lot on the north side of the building or on the surrounding streets.
